If you want a free wireless cell phone, qualify under the low income or state aid provisions and live in Louisiana, West Virginia, Arkansas, Maryland or Kentucky, then you should probably get Tag mobile or at least consider it.
Now, I'll be really honest, this is one of the smallest free government mobile phone operations in the US.
In fact it IS the smallest operation. This company only does business in five states listed above. And if you live in those states you should know all of the programs available to you.
If you want to get Tag Mobile, you should also be aware that the free cell phone minutes you are entitled too are drastically lower with this program than say Safelink, Assurance or Budget Mobile.
Under this program, you are only entitled to 68 free minutes a month. But like many other plans you can purchase more talk minutes or even text minutes if you like. You should know though that most other free cell phone plans come with at least 250 free minutes each month.
But this could work out perfectly if you want a free cell phone for a senior or if you are a senior in need of a wireless mobile and don't have a need for the average talk minutes provided in other more popular programs.
Qualify for a Free Cell Phone – Tag Mobile
For Tag Mobile, the requirements are that you must meet ONE of the below and do not have a home residence already in a Lifeline or a Linkup Program:
National School Lunch’s Free Lunch Program (NSL)
Section 8 Federal Public Housing Assistance (FPHA)
Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
Low Income Home Energy Assistance Plan (LIHEAP)
Income at or below 135% of federal poverty level (proof required)
Just like the other programs, you can add more minutes with Tag Mobile. To add 100 extra minutes for the month, you must pay $7 dollars. For an additional 500 minutes, you pay $20 dollars. And for 1000 minutes the cost is $30 dollars. All minutes expire after 30 days and you cannot carry over any minutes. This is also a real difference between larger Lifeline programs like Assurance and Safelink.
The Tag Mobile Phone program utilizes the Sprint network so you can be rest assured that you will always have the best coverage in the nation.
You should also be reminded that just like the other free cell phone government programs, you will be required to re-certify every 12 months. This is a quality control measure that all of the companies use and not just Tag Mobile.
Also like the other free cell phone programs you will not be able to browse the internet. You are not even able to purchase data add on services to browse the internet.
What's included If You Get Tag Mobile:
Free Wireless Phone
100 Talk Minutes
3 Way Calling
Free Calls to Customer Care
Free Emergency Calls
Of course as always you have options, this Lifeline program may not be the best, but it is an option in your state if you live in Louisiana or Arkansas.
