Getting Ready to Make Money Writing

By | Sep 1, 2010 | 1 Comments | Rating: 0

If you're the kind of person that has always loved to write a good short story or maybe you're the person that holds the next great American novel hidden in your heart, then you might be the kind of person that would do well at making money writing.

To begin writing for money you should decide what type of work you would like to do since whatever you want to offer the writing world is as individual and unique as you are; when you know how you want to make money writing and what direction you want to go in the world of journalism, you will need to prepare samples of your writing for your prospective employer(s).

Write several short stories (about 400-600 words) based on factual information. Pick random topics to show that you have well rounded knowledge about different items, or write specifically about subjects you have a great expertise in. If the type of work you want would involve poetry (i.e. song writing) then make sure you have some of your best and most well written pieces ready to present when asked for samples of your writing. Have those articles available for download as you make an application for a job where you will make money writing.

Send a cover letter with your writing samples to the job source you've chosen to apply to. Ensure that everything you're sending has been spell checked, that it all provides a professional appearance and most importantly that each written article presents a clear vision of your writing style(s) to the employer. Contact the employer a week after sending the information and ask to speak to the hiring authority.

Sometimes volunteering to write a few projects for the prospective employer will let him see how eager you are to be a part of his writing team while giving him the opportunity to puruse your efforts. You may find that you will soon be making money writing in the profession of your dreams.
