What to Remove from your Diet and Lifestyle

Excess sugar can lead to weight gain. Eating a diet high in sugar is sure to keep you at your current weight and potentially cause you to gain weight. While you don’t have to eliminate sugar from your diet completely, try to have a diet low in sugar. Go easy on candy, pastries and desserts. These items should be eaten sparingly and on special occasions, not every day.

There are many popular diet products and plans that support a zero carb approach. While this may be good for some, it can be extremely rigid for others. Just like sugars, limit the number of carbs you are eating. Simple carbs will be converted to sugars and stored as fat.

Removing soda from your diet can decrease overall calorie intake. Diet soda, although calorie free, can also hinder weight loss. Tasting something sweet without calories can actually trigger your body to hold on to fat. Artificial sweeteners can actually raise your insulin levels and lower your blood sugar, which may stimulate hunger and move existing calories into storage in your fat cells.

What to Add to your Diet and Lifestyle

Fruits and Vegetables

Having fruits and vegetables be a large part of your diet can aid in weight loss. Not only are these foods low in calories, they are high in nutrients. They provide the body with the nutrients it needs while being low in fat and sodium. The more natural foods you eat, the healthier your body will be. Increase the number of fruits and vegetables you eat.

Weight Training

Cardio is often the emphasis of many exercise régimes. Cardio is a very important part of physical fitness, but so is weight training. Weight training can burn a huge amount of calories and help tone your body.  Toning muscles is an important part of getting your body swimsuit ready.

A major component of a good weight loss program is water. Water is important in flushing your body of toxins and can be a catalyst for weight loss. Water also keeps your skin and hair hydrated, improving your overall appearance. Many people struggle to drink enough water. Start taking a water bottle with you everywhere you go. If it is on-hand it will be easier to drink.
