Giving A Single Duvet As A Gift

By | Jul 19, 2010 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

When shopping for single duvet for your bed or to give as a gift, you should do some research prior to shopping for them. There are many stores that sell single duvets in their bedding departments. There are some stores that exclusively sell bedding where you may find a really fine single duvet. If you are buying the duvet at a store, beware. A salesperson – even a well-meaning one – may trick you into spending more than you originally anticipated. There is the option of purchasing a duvet online. Regardless of where you may decide to buy the duvet, it pays to make an informed choice on the product before buying it. One of the things you will want to look for is what sort of fibers are used to make the single duvet comfortable and warm. Next, you want to make sure the outer shell of the duvet is in good condition and stiched well.

One of the things a shopper should be aware of is the origins of the duvet. Duvets have been used in Europe for a few centuries before they started being used in the United States. Originally, duck feathers were used but other types of fiber such as cotton were used later on. The concept of duck down or goose down bed covers came to be viewed as a comfortable way to stay warm during the winter nights, allowing the body to keep warm even at freezing weather without getting stifling hot. Duvets in the United States are more commonly referred to as comforters though some will argue that they're not necessarily the same. Some duvets appear more like a quiltor a soft fluffy blanket. Comforters by comparison may be composed of the same materials but appear bulkier by comparison. One can think of it this way. Without the invention of duvets, there might not be any comforters as we know them today.

The prices of single duvets vary. There are high end products with natural fibers that can cost well over $100 and duvets filled with synthetic fiber than can be bought for less than a $100. The disadvantage with a low price tag is that you may feel uncomfortable when sleeping at night. Since you're looking to buy a single duvet as a gift, you want to be sure you'll give something that the giftee might not make use of and ultimately dislike.

Even if you're on a budget, a good quality single duvet can be found on sale at many of the stores that carry them and websites that sell them. Afterall, you want to give a gift that will be enjoyed. It's worth the effort to find a higher quality duvet without breaking the bank.
