Cushions are great decorative items for your garden. They can used on many garden furniture and increase its attractiveness to improve the overall look of your home. The best thing is that cushions are not expensive so it is really an affordable way to dress up your garden. In this article, I will talk specifically about one type of cushions: glider cushions.

These are cushions that are meant for the glider. In case you are not aware of what a glider is, it is like a rocking chair but the movement is slightly different. For a garden, a glider chair is great as it gives you the comfort of sitting in the sun and enjoying the weather during summer. Glider cushions are usually placed on the seats of the glider to make it more comfortable.

When buying glider cushions that are going to be used in the outdoors, here are some tips you can use in your purchasing decision:

Tip #1: Get a cushion cover that is water proof. Since the glider cushions will be spending their time out in the open, they will need to be more weather resistant, especially to rain. Having a water proof cover will protect the cushions foams and make them last much longer.

Tip #2: Besides having water proof covers, another thing you should look out for is fade resistant. Due to the glider cushions being exposed to the sun, their colors tend to fade over time unless the covers have special UV chemicals that made them more resistant. With the right protection, the cushions can definitely retain their colors for a much longer period.

Tip #3: You need to test the firmness of the glider seat cushions before buying them. This can be done by simply pressing against the cushions and see how fast the cushions return to their original shape. A cushion with low quality foam tend to take a longer time while a higher quality foam returns to its shape almost instantaneously. With a better foam, the cushions will be more comfortable for you to enjoy.

Tip #4: Go for colors that complements the garden theme that you are trying to create. There are now many different colors in the market which you can choose from. From solid colors such as red, green, blue glider cushions etc to strips and bold prints, there is definitely enough variety for any garden owner to select the right cushions for his or her garden.
