The manufacturers of the GlowBowl even indicated that the apparatus can also be utilized to help children with potty training by making it a much more fun experience. I think that is a little bit of a stretch, but hey, I suppose it is a possibility. The GlowBowl is powered by 3 AAA batteries, comes along with a 3.5 inches flexible arm to supply a tight fit to your bathroom bowl, and provides five degrees of luminosity. In addition, the GlowBowl is movement activated, which saves batteries and provides better overall functionality when in use. Please note, however, that an integrated low battery indication will flash red when it is time to replace the batteries.
If your regular toilet lights are turned on, that will also preserve the battery life of your GlowBowl since it will automatically turn off. At first I thought that there would have to be some kind of light present in order for the device to detect movement and, consequently, turn on. However, this was not the case at all. The device is designed to pick up movement in pitch black environments, and it activates very quickly. The device sits on the rim of the bathroom, so it will not interfere with or stop working when the toilet seat is lifted – it simply stays put. I have had absolutely no concerns about the batteries becoming wet or falling out when flushed.
Furthermore, it is important to note that the device does not attach with velcro or suction cups of any sort. Instead, it is installed with a long flexible arm that attaches to your toilet. At the moment, the GlowBowl is the highest quality toilet light on the market, and I have greatly enjoyed this product, so far. The only downside that I have experienced with this product, to date, is the need to replace the batteries every once in a while. Oh well, I guess that is the price we have to pay for night time bathroom illumination luxury.
