Golf Tips For beginners
The first thing you should do when you elect to play golf as a hobby is to get some professional instruction. That way you can learn the correct basics and fundamentals to begin with and then practice accordingly to get better. More golf tips for beginners include:
- Don't go out and buy expensive golf clubs. There's nothing worse than a beginner going out and spending thousands of dollars on clubs and then seeing them hit and play poorly on the course. They can become laughing stocks quite easily!
- Head out any buy some beginner clubs. Not only will they be easier to use, they'll also help train you to hit the ball better and cleaner. They will be much easier to use than professional clubs at this stage of your learning.
- Go out and buy a golf glove. This will take some of the tension out of the hands when you line up to hit the ball. Tension in your grip is one of the leading causes to poor shots. You want to hold the club firmly.
- If you can't afford new decent beginner clubs, head to a local second hand store or purchase some off eBay. Just make sure in this case you buy them off someone reputable and trustworthy. Otherwise borrow them from the clubhouse you play at. In most instances you'll be able to do so pretty cheaply.
- Buy a rule book and read the rules. There's nothing worse than seeing a player not know the rules and act accordingly on the golf course. Acting out of the regulated manner will cause many players to become annoyed and even angry at you. Avoid that by buying a rule book. Make careful note of any local rules as well not included in the rule book. You can find these out by asking a worker at your local club house.
- Practice, practice, practice – you can do this by spending countless hours at your local driving range or clubhouse. There seems to be a general rule that to get good at anything you have to spend 10,000 hours practicing it. Golf is no different. The more time you spend learning and playing the game the better you'll get.
- Practice your putting on practice greens and mini golf centers. There's no better way to learn.
- Watch
as many professional golfing tournaments as possible. This will help ingrain in your
subconscious mind all the little small things you may not be aware
of. Furthermore, by watching pros
play, you'll learn how to act like one and play better accordingly.
The real key is to get proper instruction at the start of
your golfing career that way you can learn the fundamentals in the proper
fashion and then build on them by practicing endlessly. A lot of golfers don't learn the correct
steps and techniques first and end up practicing and playing with horrible
habits that cause them to play badly.
The sure fire way of avoiding this is being shown how to play correctly
from the start. I learnt the drills to improve my golf swing in the same way you should to improve your goal swing!
