Good Cars For Teenagers Under 3000 Dollars

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 0

Good cars for teenagers under 3000 dollars can easily be found if you are looking in the right places. At this price range you will most definitely have to look for a used car, most likely one that has been driven for quite a while. Keep in mind that the car will probably have some scratches and minor dents on the surface. The tires and breaks may need to be replaced and the interior will most likely need to be cleaned and restored. Buying a used car is half the battle. You need to make sure that it runs properly by getting it inspect by a professional mechanic. Below, I will provide you some tips on buying a used car and a short list of good cars for teenagers under 3000 dollars.

Local Car Dealership

Although, I try to avoid car dealerships at all cost, it may be helpful for you to visit one to see the options available to you. Here you will find a slew of different cars both new and used. You'll also be able to get a feel for the prices on certain types of cars. Be aware that a lot of dealerships mark up the price on their vehicles above market value. Car salesmen are notorious for preying on unsuspecting customers and robbing them of their hard-earned money. If it is your first day out hunting for a nice used car for your teenage son or daughter, it is best to just browse. Unless, you find one that absolutely delivers in quality and price, I suggest you look at several other places before you fork over your cash.

Auto Repo Auctions

I frequently visit auto repo auctions when I'm looking for used cars to buy. You can find one near your house by doing a quick Google search or looking at your local newspaper. You can check out sites that cater to these auctions and filter the results by vehicle type, number of mileage, and location. The used cars that you find here have been confiscated from their former owners because they failed to make their monthly payments. With an ailing economy and a high unemployment rate, more and more used cars at great prices have been popping up all over the United States. If you are looking for used cars, now is the perfect time to buy one.

You can also find used car auctions by calling up your local bank or any money lending institution. These places don't have set schedules so it is best to call a couple of times a month to see if an auction will take place. Persistence is the key. If you find several auctions on various dates, make sure to go to one during bad weather. Usually when it is raining outside, people are less likely to show up. Less bidders means less competition for you.

Buying Used Cars Online

Although I highly recommend visiting a physical place when buying used cars, sometimes you can't find one or it is too far away from the vicinity of your own home. In that case, you can try buying them online on sites like eBay and Craigslist.

eBay: The biggest online auction site in the world, eBay has every imaginable item you can imagine, including used cars. One of the great things about eBay is that it connects buyers with the sellers. There is no middleman to increase the price of the transaction. You can filter through your results by price and location, which makes things a lot more convenient. Always make sure to check the seller's rating and see how many items he/she has sold in the past. Usually the more items sold, the better.

Craigslist: I've had personal experience buying used cars from Craigslist. Currently, I have sold and bought about 5 used cars over the span of three years. Craigslist is very easy to use and it is not difficult to find good cars for teenagers under 3000 dollars. All you need is patience and a little bit of luck. You won't find the car of your dreams on the first day. You need to make a habit of checking the site every day to find those hidden gems. When using Craigslist, never send money over the Internet. Always meet your seller face to face and test out the used car before handing over the money.
