What's new in social networking
Google +1 - Connecting more people online
The search engine company, Google, has just rolled out its Google +1 social networking button.
Google+ aims to provide internet users with a much improved medium or tool to interact with each other (and the world) on the net. The Google+ social networking platform could be Facebook’s biggest threat as it caters to the same user market as Facebook is serving – the online social networking niche.
The Official Google blog poignantly tells about the factor that egged the Google+ engineers to create this social networking platform:
"Among the most basic of human needs is the need to connect with others. With a smile, a laugh, a whisper or a cheer, we connect with others every single day."
Today, the connections between people increasingly happen online. Yet the subtlety and substance of real-world interactions are lost in the rigidness of our online tools.
In this basic, human way, online sharing is awkward. Even broken. And we aim to fix it.
We’d like to bring the nuance and richness of real-life sharing to software. We want to make Google better by including you, your relationships, and your interests. And so begins the Google+ project..”
The platform has many built-in features that allow the user to experience connecting with friends, family members, and the the whole community like no other. Google+ has exciting applications like +Circles, +Sparks, +Huddle, and +Hangouts that elevate social networking to a new level.
But first, before you get to experience the wonder of using Google+, you need to sign in to your Google Account and join Google Plus.
This feature allows you to share anything within your “circle” of friends. Be it a food recipe, a gadget that you would love to buy, a gossip article, or health tips, do share it.
Bored? Why would you be when +Sparks is around? With this feature, you can join in a conversation with people who share the same interests with you. Hollywood celebrities, fast cars, hot fashion trends, and the latest technology could be the topics of your conversations.
This is a group messaging feature in Google+ that lets you know what’s going on with everybody around your “circle” of friends. Coordinating and communicating with family and friends following different schedules would be a walk in the park.
How would you spend your time with your friends who are miles away from you? Well, +Hangouts could be the right Google Plus tool for you. It allows you to “hang-out” with your friends, say hi and hello, talk face-to-face, and do just about anything with a multi-person video. Distance wouldn’t be a problem anymore. All you have to do is log-in into your Google+ account and you could enjoy the rest of the day with your friends and family.
The cool Google+ features do not end here. The platform has a +Mobile application also which allows you to post your location in real-time and upload your pictures in seconds – of course, using your mobile phone.
Although Google Plus is still in Beta (testing) mode, it is already making a big impact on the way how we interact or socially connect with each other. Facebook should better be able to come up with more exciting features and applications to uphold its current standing as the leader in social networking platforms.
