Use Goose Calls to Do It Right and Get that Shot
Hunting can be very challenging. It is an outdoor sporting activity that requires precision and accuracy. Getting a chance at that shot can be equally as hard as shooting game. Having the right gear and applying the right method is quite crucial.
Goose hunting will definitely need goose calls, decoys and hunting blinds. For sure, a weapon is needed. The hunter can choose among different shotguns, bows and crossbows. Shotguns are more commonly used because these are better at shooting moving targets from long ranges.
The right gear
Goose calls can actually refer to the whistle used to lure the geese. Luring geese is certainly important unless one plans to shoot them high in the air. Making the right type of sound is important. If it is different from the sound made by that type of goose, it will just ignore it.
Decoys are used together with a goose call. Both items are used in order to trick the creature. This is the most common way to lure geese.
Hunting blinds are also important. Geese are quite smart and if the area looks unusual, these creatures will not land. Therefore, a hunter must hide behind hunting blinds and conceal all their equipment too.
Boats are also used. However, it does depend on the location of the hunting ground. Geese are usually found near bodies of water or on fields. If one is hunting near the water, a boat is used to place the decoy on the water. It is also used to pick them up afterwards.
Goose and duck hunting
It is possible to hunt both ducks and geese in a particular area. These creatures share the same habitat. They even behave the same way. Goose hunting season is also duck hunting season.
The exact same method is also used for hunting ducks. The only difference is that ducks are lured with duck calls rather than goose calls. However, any hunter can enjoy both provided that they can produce the right sound to lure both types of waterfowl.
