Great First Date Ideas

By 0 0

Wanting to impress someone who you are newly dating is completely natural.  A first date provides the first opportunity to express who you are, what you believe in, and what you want in a partner. If the initial meeting goes well, there might be an opportunity to have a much wanted second date. However, if the first meeting flops, a second date will most likely not be in the cards. Choosing a neutral and non-threatening yet comfortable environment for your first meeting will be helpful in making the experience go so well that it leads to a second date. Here are some tried and true first date ideas that all single people should try:

 Cafe

A quaint cafe or coffee shop is an ideal place to have a first in person connection with someone, especially if both people on the date are strapped for cash and don’t want to spend a lot of money during the first meeting. The prices at coffee shops are usually reasonable. An inexpensive date takes the pressure off, allowing for the focus to be on communicating and getting to know each other.  Two people meeting each other for the first time should ideally connect in a public place.  Even if you have a good intuitive feeling about your date, you should protect yourself in the initial stages of getting to know each other.

Aquarium

Marine life is completely fascinating, and there is so much to learn about how fish, shark, seahorses, and other sea creatures live under water. Take your date to a local aquarium to watch marine life swimming and frolicking in man-made water tanks.  You can both have a lot of fun at an aquarium, and it is a public place, so, you can feel safer having your first date together in an environment where there will be many people around you in case the person you are with makes you feel uncomfortable. While you are at the aquarium together, you can talk to each other about your lives and interests while looking at the sea creatures at the same time. And, best of all, there is plenty of marine life to turn to and stare at if there are any awkward pauses in the conversation.

Karaoke

Singing can be a great stress reliever.  Karaoke is a wonderful activity for those who enjoy singing in the shower as well as those who relish singing for audiences. Check your local area’s bars and restaurants for karaoke events and consider making your first date together a karaoke night. This type of date will also be an opportunity to learn about your love interest’s musical tastes.  Music is a bonding factor for many people, especially couples. Knowing your partner’s music preferences can lead to future date suggestions involving music such as concerts, and dance clubs. Even if you and your date decide not to sing karaoke songs together on stage, you can still have an enjoyable time together watching other patrons of the restaurant perform.

Amusement Park

Spending time outdoors in a lively atmosphere such as an amusement park can take the pressure off of you and your potential love interest. Costume characters, games, and rides provide plenty of options to have a fun first date. Visiting a zoo or a farm can provide fun and pressure free moments to enjoy each other’s company. Strolling through theme parks is an opportunity to hold each other’s hands if you feel a strong connection developing between the two of you. Take in the sights and sounds as you have fun in the sun.

Your first date together should be as interactive as possible. The goal of each first date should be to discover if you and the other person have common ground with each other. A movie date where you sit in silence staring at actors on a screen will not help you to accomplish your mission in getting to know someone. Leave a movie outing for the second or third date. The focus of your first meeting should be about discovering compatibility. Make every opportunity to engage the person you are meeting with in conversation that is equally interesting and non-threatening.
