Read This If Your Kids Want To Dress Up This Halloween
The most popular halloween costume ideas for kids.
Halloween is just around the corner. And if you have kids, you've probably already heard talk about potential costume ideas this year. If not, don't worry; it's coming.
As a parent, I have concerns about how my children dress up on a daily basis, but I think Halloween costumes are pretty harmless, as long as the parties and candy are closely monitored. It's just one day out of the year, and it allows children to let their dreams soar to dress up as their favorite action hero. So I let loose a bit when it comes to what my kids wear for Halloween.
Whether you are into TV characters, movies, or just plain tradition, Halloween is sure to delight your senses when you light up your doorstep this October.
Read on to find out what costumes are going to be the most popular this Halloween.
Superheroes To Look Out For
Favorites this year for boys
It wouldn't be Halloween without Batman, would it? With the release of The Dark Knight Rises we will see a great deal of boys living out their superhero fantasy while at the same time pillaging your property for Reese's and miniature Snickers bars. Check out these great offerings from online retailer Amazon.com.
The Avengers really did well at the box office this year, so look to the cast of surperheroes to be a big hit this fall. These larger-than-life superheroes include Thor, Captain America, The Hulk, Black Widow, and Iron Man. I expect that this year will see but a fragment of the Iron Man costumes we'll see compared to next year, when Iron Man 3 is scheduled to be released.
A couple other favorites are Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man and Clark Kent, also known as Superman. These two have been around longer than I've been alive in one form or another, and I've seen all the movies from each. You just can't go wrong with superheroes that do amazing stuff for the world around them.
As crude as they are, television shows South Park and The Family Guy will be around this year for kids. And The Simpsons, America's longest-running animated television series, is still going strong, thanks to the boost from the movie a few years back.
And what would we do an All-Hallow's Eve without the standby zombies, pirates, and ninjas? There aren't many things you can count on in life, but seeing those characters on your front doorstep for Halloween is one of them. And, to be honest, it's more fun than death and taxes.
So fill up your candy bowls and light your doorsteps, 'cause these little monsters are coming!
Seriously, what's cuter than a little princess begging for candy?
If you ask a little girl what she wants to be when she grows up, chances are the answer you get is going to be incredibly similar to what she says when you ask her how she wants to dress up at Halloween. Girls have fantasies, too, and here are some great ideas for costumes this Halloween.
Just out this year is Disney's Brave, a story of bravery and courage whose star is a fiesty redhead princess who determines to break traditions in her world that creates chaos in her kingdom. Red wigs and teal blue capes are the big hit of the season for pre-teen and younger girls.
Preteens have fallen in love with Monster High, a collection of cartoon characters with quirky personalities, funky fashion sense, and oh yeah, they're monsters. Cute and adorable, these characters are a carefully crafted blend of Barbie and those freaky Bratz dolls from a few years ago.
Perhaps none of these fit your tastes in your household. No problem. There's always Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games. A beautiful young woman who trades places with her younger sister for a lottery-drawn place in the country's annual challenge-to-the-end, this brave warrior is a role model and future heart-throb for teenage boys around the world. Her popular hairstyle, a braid wrapped around one side of her head, has already taken hold in high schools everywhere. You'll see Katniss again in 2014 and beyond, as the sequels round out the trilogy with Catching Fire and Mockingjay.
And maybe you're on a budget, like my family. Don't feel like battling for parking at the mall? Jump over to Amazon.com and check out these amazing costume ideas. Got an older sibling? Dig out costumes from a few years back and put on the princess, the fairy, or the witch costume for your younger child. Younger girls look super-adorable as these timeless characters, and they touch the hearts of your daddy's girl like no modern story ever could. There's a reason they're timeless.
