Great Kennel Flooring for Dogs

Dogs are pretty resilient, hardy animals. Okay, at least most dogs are – if you are looking at something like a primped up poodle that may be hard to believe, but I am talking about outside dogs here – the kind that would need a kennel in the first place. If your dog is strictly an indoor dog then you do not need to think about kennel flooring, but if you have an outdoor dog and therefore have a dog kennel, then that kennel needs a good floor for your dog to sleep and lay on. You should never allow your outside dog to sleep just on the grass or the dirt, as not only will the dog get filthy and start to stink but he can get chilled and sick from it too, not to mention the fact that it is uncomfortable for the dog, and dogs do not like to sleep on an uncomfortable surface any more than you do.

Some people like to lay a cement floor which is fine, but cement is not enough in itself, as it is porous and absorbs all sorts of smelly liquids and moisture and after a while it starts to really stink. A blanket or throw rug is definitely out of the question – they attract fleas and lice that come first to the throw rug and/or blanket and then stay on the dog; they are a definite hassle to get rid of.

Portable dog kennel flooring is about the best bet – it is affordable and comfortable, and it is easy to lay down yourself and can also be taken apart again and moved. Portable kennel flooring can be made with different materials, but they are all pretty comfortable for your dog to sleep or lay on. If you get the rubber tile version of kennel flooring, I would advise you to make sure that there are no corners or areas sticking out on it that the dog can get hold of and chew, as that is about the quickest way to ruin it.

Portable kennel flooring, and other outdoor dog kennel flooring, should not be too hard to find, either at a pet store, a supermarket or from an online company selling it; it goes without saying that exactly how much it costs would depend on what material it is made from and what company or store is selling it, but it should not be too hard to find something that will fit in with your needs and your budget and you are sure to have a happier pet for it.
