It provides excellent insulation from the weather and sound.Many other materials that are recycled such as roofing , steel studs ,siding can be used in a home. Recycled paper can be used in making fiberboard sheeting materials.

update and reuse materials and fixtures that are just destined for the land fill. Many salvage companies will save old sinks ,tubs, stained glass windows for the public to by and refurbish. Buying these type of products saves energy and resources if they were to be made new.

You can look into solar and wind power for your home. There are companies that make smaller wind power units that are just for the home owner. Make sure that your appliances have the energy star logo they will use less energy to operate.

Check all your windows and doors for air leaks and repair them. You need at least 6 inches of insulation in your attic. Look for recycled insulation this will help save the environment.
