Gurnee Mills is a short drive from Chicago and located right off of HWY 94.

There are over 200 shops here, something for everyone.

You could do all of your Christmas shopping in one weekend.

This mall can become very crowded on some weekends and during the entire Christmas season. Once, on December 22nd, it took me over 2 hours just to get out of the parking lot.

Full Review

Gurnee Mills Mall, located in Northeastern, IL and in the town of Gurnee not far from Great America, has over 200 shops. From tobacco shops, discount shoe outlets, Saks Fifth Avenue, to Bass Pro Shops, there is something for everyone here.

Gurnee Mills Mall has two food courts, Rainforest Cafe, the Gurnee Marcus Cinema, and even an ice skating rink.

Bass Pro Shops is a unique experience. It is every sportsmans' dream to walk into this place. It is always interesting to watch a true sportsman walk into the front door and look at the trophies hanging on the wall. Their large aquarium with native fish simply mesmerizes visitors. I found it amazing to see how large some of these fish grow.

Aside from Bass Pro there are many outlet stores such as Marshalls, Abercrombie, Hollister, Burlington Coat Factory and Bed Bath and Beyond. There are too many stores to mention them all, but these are the highlights. Just about anything you want to buy can be found at Gurnee Mills.

One thing that impressed me was there are 30 different places that you can shop for shoes. Everything from a Nike Factory Store, Payless Shoes, Shoe Carnival to more upscale stores such as Foot Locker and Ecko Unlimited.

My wife had a great time and spent an entire day browsing through all of the home furnishing outlets. She could not believe the size of the Marshall's Home Goods Store. She also spent quite a bit of time in the Bed Bath and Beyond, T.J. Maxx and Sears Grand.

Every imaginable type of fashion is available to shoppers. From speciality camo at Bass Pro to western apparel at RCC Western Wear to Neiman Marcus. There are dozens of clothing outlets that will cater to even the most specialized tastes.

If you want to come up here to shop, you should spend a couple of days so that you will not become overwhelmed by it all. There is a Comfort Inn and a Fairfield Inn right on Gurnee Mills Circle Drive. This is the road that encircles the mall. This is very convenient because it is practically in the Gurnee Mills parking lot. There is also plenty of dining in the out lots of the mall such as Steak and Shake, Lone Star Steak House, Pizza hut and some fast food restaurants. These are only places right on Gurnee Mills Circle Drive. I bet there are two-dozen restaurants within a mile of Gurnee Mills.

In Closing

Gurnee Mills mall is one of the largest shopping centers in the Chicagoland Area. There are over 200 shops here. Anything that you want you can find. You will find something here for even those "impossible" to shop for people.

I like your article, especially the in-depth analysis of individual store experiences. I went to this mall as well but didn't like it as much as the other two I wrote about. Nonetheless good job!
