HOW TO SEND FREE SMS TEXT MESSAGES

By | Jan 7, 2010 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

Sending free SMS messages in Australia has never been easier. It's very handy if you are on a 'credit plan' and run out of credit... OR if you live overseas and want to text a mate to say g'day because you can now do it online, from your computer, for FREE. (note the tips and warnings below)

Things You Will Need

All you need is a computer with internet access, an email address you often check, a small amount of time to fill out a survey/or a click through, an Australian mobile number and of course someone who will love receiving your free text messages.

So if this sounds like a good idea, to get started I recommend visiting the smspup website and signing up. Once you've signed up you will start to receive emails from smspup which you will need to action and then you can start sending free sms messages to other Australian mobiles. It's pretty good as you can choose the topics / advertisements that interest you.

Tips & Warnings

Note that you do actually need an Australian mobile number to set up. However a trick is set up your smspup when you have an actual mobile number as when you first set up the website needs to verify that you have a mobile to start with - and then when you send your text messages the recipient (if they have your number in their phone) can see that it's from you.

Make sure you read the terms and conditions - but I've been using it for years and haven't had any dramas. I registered like I say years ago - and my mobile has changed a bunch of times since then, however I still log in with that same number from years ago. Make sure if you change your email address smspup have that as that is where the survey / click throughs are sent to to earn your SMS points.

There is a slight down fall, you can't actually get your friend/recipient of a smspup to write back to your computer (well not that I can work out). However if you have your mobile they can just text you on that - you don't need credit to receive an SMS.

I did find it to be an issue when I used my Australian mobile number as the registered smspup number, living overseas, as my mobile didn't work overseas to receive text messages - but so as long as your friends are aware it's all good.

I also recommend reading the frequently asked question section on their website just to get familiar with the site. But believe me it's very easy.
