Should I Buy a HX6711 or HX6732?

This objective comparison account will contrast two Philips sonicare electric toothbrush models -- the HX6711 vs HX6732 -- through a breakdown analysis on features & specifications (pointing out what is similar and what is different between the two), in turn providing you with an overview as to what both the HX6711 and HX6732 models can offer. Moreover, this will also be able to help you have a clear understanding as to which model to go for i.e which toothbrush will best suit your dental 'cleaning' preferences & needs.

Fitted Technology

HX6711/02 (aka. HealthyWhite): Sonicare Technology

HX6732/02 (aka. HealthyWhite ): Sonicare Technology

Both models are integrated with the same unique & highly rated sonic technology developed through Philips that allows up to 31,000 movements within a minute -- this in turn allows them to literally 'drive' fluid deep in between the gaps of your teeth. The result of this benefits your teeth in several (clinically proven) ways: i) fights 'disease provoking' plaque, ii) improves your gum health (within two weeks of regular use) and iii) removes (tea/coffee/wine) stains -- leaving your teeth looking bright and white (seeing results in just a week). However, relative to one another -- they don't really differ in this aspect, both offer a 'quality' and complete overhaul oral cleaning experience.

Cleaning & Brushing Modes

HX6711: Clean | Clean & White |

HX6732: Clean | Clean & White | Sensitive |

The HX6711 and the HX6732 are designed to have a specific sophisticated teeth 'whitening/polishing' element involved (hence their names -- healthywhite) and hence don't only have the standard 'clean' mode (which lasts for two minutes complete clean) but a 'white and clean' mode - which basically in addition to the 'clean' mode, gives you an extra minute on the polishing mode (alternating speeds) to remove stains and make your teeth more visible (and effectively whiter). In addition to this, the HX6732 also comes with a 'sensitive' mode - that acts at gentler and less powerful pace, making it more suitable and comfortable for those with particularly sensitive teeth and gums.

Practical Features

HX6711: 1 to 2 weeks run time| Easy Start, SmarTimer & Quadpacer |

HX6732: 1 to 2 weeks run time| Easy Start, SmarTimer & Quadpacer |

From a charge of around 24 hours, you get around 20 uses out of them (which due to morning and night 2 min brushes) - so should be able to last you a little more than 10 days (and at the most up to 2 weeks).

Philips (as with all their electronic rechargeable toothbrushes) have integrated features that encourage good & proper cleaning habits -- like the SmarTimer that makes sure you clean your teeth for the full proper 2 minutes (as recommended by leading professional dentists) along with a 'quadpacer' that lets you know when 30 seconds is up and for you to move on to the next quadrant of your mouth (giving you a equally distributed clean for all your mouth).

Also, as the sonic technology can be quite a shock at the start (especially for those who previously manual toothbrushes) -- they allow an 'easy-start' whereby they gradually build up in power over the first twelve to fourteen uses.

Brush Heads

HX6711: Standard ProResults Brush Head

HX6732: Compact & Standard ProResults Brush Head

Philips pro-results brush heads are specially moulded and contoured to the shape of your teeth with the bristles being 'extra' soft -- this is beneficial for two reasons: i) they are effective in removing plaque etc. right up against your gum line and ii) they are comfortable (even somewhat) pleasant to use. The HX6732 comes with a 'compact' version, which is basically a mini one which is perfect for 'precision' (individual) tooth cleaning (comes in handy for those who have braces or gum issues etc.).

Conclusion: Should You Buy a HX6711 or HX6732 ?

Obviously, the HX6732 (as detailed from the above) is the slightly more effective cleaning toothbrush - coming with the extra sensitive mode etc. but in truth they are actually rather similar (same sonic technology, largely similar accessories etc.)- so the main factor to consider here -- between buying either the HX6711 or HX6732) --  is the price.

Granted, the HX6732 should be slightly more expensive by around $30 (being the right reservation price, perhaps more for those with particularly sensitive teeth) --  so my 'general rule of thumb' would be anything less than that (i.e the difference in price) I would opt for the HX6732 (e.g. HX6711 is $100 and the HX6732 is $129) and anything more than that, just go with the HX6711 (e.g. HX6711 is $100 and the HX6732 is $139 -- and you could probably use that money saved - to get compact pro-results brush heads or more accessories, if that is what you are after).
