Hair Implants For Women Tips
The hair implant industry started in the
Though out the decades surgical procedures were improved until the result became very satisfactory in the early 90's. The procedure was working well for men but there was still not very many hair implants for women procedures. There was a very good reason that this procedure was not being used to treat female pattern baldness like it was the male counterpart. Women tend to experience hair thinning along with bald spotting when they have hair loss. This meant, unlike men who usually still have good hair growth at the posterior area of the scalp, women did not have a good donor area. If hair follicles were removed from one area to place in the bald spot the donor area now looked bald.
This changed about ten years ago when a new technique known as Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) was developed. With this method individual hair follicles can be manipulated instead of entire strips of scalp. The surgeon can remove hair units from several areas of the head and also other parts of the body and then transplant these units individually into the bald area. This finally allowed women to receive hair implants while still retaining as much hair as possible on the remaining areas of the scalp. Women could now have the results of their own hair growing to fill in the bald spot just like men had for the last decade.
It should also be noted that many artificial hair implant techniques were tried at this time also with not very good results. The implants would not grow so styling was very difficult and the hair shafts never did really match the surrounding natural hair. These went the way of the old hair plugs.
If you have a bald spot this procedure should definitely be on your short list of possible solutions. Wigs work OK if you are not very active but for the woman who wants to live life to the fullest this is a very good solution.
