Hair loss prevention has become a common problem for both men and women. Though we cannot pin point one particular reason for this condition, hair loss can be generally attributed to the excessive secretion of the hormone called DHT, the lack of iron, which causes skin on the hair and sometimes the under active thyroid. We often make the mistake of considering our hair as a lifeless object. What we forget is that our hair is as much alive as we are and is often an indicator of our health. A bad hair condition or excessive hair loss indicates that we are not in the best of our health and we are lacking the essential vitamins, minerals and nutrients that are needed to lead a healthy life.

Oily hair is attributed to Vitamin B deficiency. Dry and Brittle hair indicates the lack of essential fats. Zinc deficiency causes a dull hair color and under growth of hair. Hair loss is due to the lack of Vitamin B1, Vitamin C, iron and lysine. Just by the texture and nature of hair we can pin point the deficiencies in our system. Hence by taking care of hair and preventing hair loss, we in turn take care of our health

Hair Loss Prevention Tips

Knowing how to prevent hair loss can be a simple thing to accomplish if we take proper care of our health. Foods that are high in protein, low in carbohydrates and have reduced fat content will aide us in hair loss prevention. This kind of food will also help us in maintaining a healthier hair. The essential fatty acids, found in spinach, walnuts, soy, tuna, sardines, sunflower seeds and canola oil are important in keeping a hair healthy. The omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids contain anti-inflammatory properties that are useful in maintaining healthy hair. Insufficient levels of these essential fatty acids could lead to hair loss.

A balanced nutritional diet prevents losing hair and stimulates hair growth. A proper diet comprising of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, poultry, fish, eggs, beans, nuts and seeds which are a rich source of vital nutrients is important to maintain a healthier hair root. Reduce intake of salt, sugar, cakes, coffee and tea and do not skip meals. Vegetarians are generally prone to hair loss since their meal lack the essential Vitamin B12, iron and lysine. Hence they should opt for supplements as an adequate hair loss prevention product.

Food supplements like B complex, evening primrose oil, fish oil, kelp, lysine, multivitamins and minerals and Vitamin C will also help.

Additional prevention products

Besides the nutrients, we should also be considering some of the natural herbs that are considered to be one of the best medicines to stimulate hair growth. Herbs are safe without side effects and cost less. Nettles, an extract from Nettle Root is said to be efficient in the prevention and treatment of hair problems. These are rich in Vitamin C and inhibit the DHT hormone.

Another significant herb is Saw Palmetto, which is said to lower the DHT levels and hence used for the treatment of androgenic alopecia, the medical term for male and female pattern hair loss. Other traditional herbs that are useful as natural treatments are green tea, liquorices extract, horsetail, ginger, psoralea seeds, apple cider vinegar, rosemary and sage tea.

Hair loss is a common occurrence and is faced by almost everyone at one point or the other in life. So if you are suffering from it, it’s best advised to try out the natural ways of remedying the situation than pouring out money in treatments that might fail you.
