Best 2011 Halloween Costumes - Halloween Costume Ideas

Oh Man! It is almost that time of year and you are still looking for Halloween Costume Ideas? If so, you will first need to decide whether you are buying your costume new, buying your costume used, or renting your costume. Overwhelmed? Don't be! The following are my thoughts on how to make the process a little bit easier.

The first option is to buy a new Halloween costume. This is my favorite option as Halloween costume shopping is an exciting experience, especially with the ease at which you can shop for that perfect costume online. Generally speaking, you will want to choose a costume shop that has a stellar reputation, great prices and a large selection of Halloween costumes. After all, one of the main advantages of buying costumes online is price and selection. Match those qualities up with someone you can trust and you are certainly on your way to buying this year's Halloween costume.

Of course, you can also search for a Halloween costume by shopping at your local costume shops and novelty shops. Due to the cost associated with stocking these items, you should not that the selection found in brick and mortar stores will pale in comparison to the sheer volume found online. If, however, your tastes are not too extreme, you should be able to find a good selection of Halloween masks, costumes, accessories and props. Additionally, many consumers are more secure buying stuff from an actual person (as opposed to pushing a "buy" button on a computer screen) since they can virtually guarantee their receipt of the goods purchased, as well as the ease at which the costume can be returned should a problem arise.

Next, if you have budgetary concerns, you can also try to buy your costume previously worn (i.e., worn). This alternative is a great way to get extra value as many Halloween costumes are only used once before they are discarded. Additionally, if you find yourself looking for that special extra piece to complete your costume, buying a used costumes is a financially responsible method of securing that costume piece at a discount. You can generally find used costumes at flea markets, thrift stores, yard sales, online auction sites (i.e., eBay), as well as from friends, relatives, and co-workers.

Obviously, however, you want to make sure you purchase a quality costume or you are simply wasting your money. If purchasing from an online discount costume shop on online auction, it is imperative that you get as many high quality photographs as possible. As added protection, find a vendor that is willing to stand by its product by offering a money back guarantee. If you only intend to wear the costume once, try to determine how much the costume will be re-purchased from you so you can gauge your actual cost of buying the costume. Talk about getting more costume for your money!

A third option is to rent your Halloween costume. Many times you can find great Halloween disguises to rent at the same local places that you can otherwise buy new costumes. Keep mind that there are several intangibles that must be considered when renting a deposit. For example, you might be required to leave a deposit for the costume which is charged in addition to the rental price. This deposit is intended to secure against damages to the costume as well as to offset the risk that you will not return it as agreed. Additionally, rental prices vary. As expected, prices rise near or during Halloween season so be prepared to pay more during those times.

Personally speaking, great low-priced new Halloween costumes are available all year round at all price points. Accordingly, it is recommended that you simply buy one. Consider it an investment into establishing priceless memories. After all, if you decide not to keep it, you can always resell it or pass it on to your friends and family.
