Bathroom and kitchen sinks are available in various styles and materials these days and this provides the consumer with an excellent choice. Depending on the decorating theme you are planning you will need to select a sink style to match in with this. To fit in with a rustic, countryside look a hammered copper sink can be a good choice.

Copper has long been used by man and by some accounts has a history that dates back 10,000 years. However it is only in recent years the copper sinks have come into fashion. This has come with the growing trend for alternative materials to the standard ceramic, steel and iron sinks which were traditionally used. As well as copper, materials such as glass, stone and brass have grown in popularity.

The style of sinks has changed in recent years and vessel sinks are now a common theme. Rather than being built in or placed on a pedestal these are freestanding. The material use to manufacture them is finished on all sides and the sink is effectively put on display on a piece of furniture.

Copper sinks can come in two basic styles. While a smooth finish can provide an attractive look a hammered copper vessel sink can be a more practical purchase. Hammered copper can provide a more interesting and attractive looking finish. It also tends to result in a stronger surface which is more resistant to scratches and dents.

Although a hammered copper sink will produce a strong surface it is also important to take the thickness of copper into consideration. This can be a factor in the durability of the sink and thicker copper will tend to ensure a harder wearing sink. Purchasing from a reliable manufacturer is another factor to consider as they will tend to use better construction techniques and this can increase the life of a sink.

Things to consider when purchasing a copper vessel sink include the shape and the vessel sink faucet to match the sink with. Circular is the most common type of copper sink for a bathroom although other shapes are available. In the kitchen a square or rectangular shape will tend to be a more practical alternative and the stronger surface of hammered copper tends to be more appropriate for kitchen areas.

When considering cost there are few factors that will affect this including size, quality and copper thickness. It is possible however to find smaller copper vessel sinks on sale for between $150 and $200. As the size and quality increase however the cost can rise to $1,000 and above at the more expensive end of the market.

There are a number of places that you will be able to find copper sinks for sale. Home improvement stores are an ideal place to look and will have a decent selection available. If you are looking for ideas these can be good places to visit. Searching the internet is also a good idea and there are many sites such as Copper Sinks and Mexican Copper where you can find both information and sinks for sale.
