Handmade Wedding Invitations for a Formal Wedding

By | 1 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

A wedding invitation is a glimpse into the theme, style and austerity of your event. There are hundreds of styles of invitations, from the casual postcard, to the austere formal style of invitations. Formal invitations are usually compiled of a number of factors; a save the date card, an outer envelope, an inner envelope, the invitation, directions to the reception and a r.s.v.p card and envelope. A couple can choose to include all of these pieces or just the essentials. Couples can also choose to use a more formal invitation and then include a less formal set of r.s.v.p cards and directions. Every couple has their own vision of how formal their invitations need to be. Whether choosing casual or formal invitations, there are incredibly unique ways to have handmade wedding invitations.

Handmade wedding invitations aren't necessarily made by any of the wedding party. Handmade invitations are available all over the Internet and at various cities where artists thrive.
The Internet has brought us so many wonderful things, one of which is instance access to artists from all around the world. Brides and grooms can find lovely wedding invitations handmade by artists that work with watercolors, oil paints, charcoal, paper or any other medium. There are thousands of different styles of invitation from which to choose.

Watercolors, paint and pencil art is a really beautiful way to incorporate a design or theme into an invitation. Watercolors are being used in antique or vintage themed weddings. Outlines and raised oil paints are beautiful when being used for contemporary themes. Many couples are choosing Chinese lettering as a background for red wedding invitations and themes. Chinese lettering should be done by accomplished calligraphers who are familiar with the intricacies of the designs.
Photography is another type of invitation that is often overlooked by couples. A photograph can compromise many different elements. Couples can choose photographs of themselves, of locations (like the beach) or of things that represent their themes. Another great thing about photographs is they can be made in black and white, which is perfect for a vintage wedding, Hollywood style or a black and white wedding.

Whichever style of invitation you choose, handmade or printed, remember to send the invitation in time. Formal weddings usually send a 'save the date' card as early as possible. Sending out these early allows the full invitations to be sent out at six weeks instead of eight. More importantly, sending out a save the date card helps insure all the relatives can attend the wedding.

While I write about all sorts of weddings, costumes and shoes, I can't take credit for any articles about dresses. That belongs solely to my friend Mari, who knows just about everything on dresses there is to know. Please visit any of her women's dresses sites where she focuses on real women and real clothes.
