Health Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar

By | Nov 9, 2010 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

While apple cider is a delicious beverage, once this tasty substance turns to vinegar it has even more qualities that you may not have heard about. Though apple cider vinegar is commonly used around the home as a great natural cleaner, it has some health benefits as well and that's what we are going to look at today.

Apple cider vinegar taken in small quantities of approximately one tablespoon a day is an excellent antioxidant. It helps to cleanse your body and digestive tract from the things you probably should not have eaten. It helps with weight loss too. Taking a little drink before meals speeds up your metabolism, helping the meal go through your body faster and easier.

The appearance of apple cider vinegar may make you flinch, but do not let the pulp and the brownish hue bother you. It still tastes just fine. And it is chock full of amino acids, vitamins and minerals. Calcium, potassium, sodium and iron are all necessary to your life. A shortage of any of these and you will feel a little less than healthy. But you can easily prevent that just by adding a little apple cider vinegar to your diet.

It is fine to drink it straight though the acidic content in the vinegar is harsh on the teeth, so diluting it is generally preferred if you are going to use it on a regular basis. Mixing it with a little warm water and honey will give you a refreshing drink for the early morning. Adding it to your orange juice or a bowl of fruit may make it go down smoothly too.

Another way to ingest cider vinegar, in trace amounts, is to use it in marinades for meat. It gives a tender and juicy flavor to a good steak or roast. It adds flavor to your meatballs and if you put a little in your rice or pasta while cooking the flavor will jump start your taste buds.

Some other apple cider vinegar health benefits include its ability to help soothe skin that may have blemishes or dryness. It helps to restore a healthy digestive system and also helps with neck and back pain. You can even soak a rag in it and place it upon the head or neck. The content will assist in reducing a fever without the harmful effects some pain relievers have on children or adults.

The stories you heard from your grandmother were all true. Apple cider vinegar is great for a lot of things around the house too. One bottle will last you a long time and the benefits from its use will help in all aspects of your life.
