Health Benefits of Exercise

The health benefits of exercise are many as you may or may not know. If you were to get specific though what would you tell someone to get them to exercise with you. Many times the only thing people know to say is it helped them to lose weight. Wouldn't it be more convincing if you knew more?

To convince others on the health benefits of exercise you need to experience them for yourself. This may take time, especially if you are or were out of shape. On the other hand, if you've been working out for years then you know many of them and can do a better job of educating others.

Exercise helps fight off illness and disease. When you exercise on a regular basis it can help prevent high blood pressure, cancer, type 2 diabetes, bone loss, heart disease, and stroke to name a few. It also slows down the aging process.

Take into consideration that exercise improves muscle tone and can reshape your body. There isn't anything that can take its place. Think about it, what else can you do to increase muscle and look fit? It has to be some form of exercise or activity and activity is exercise!

One of the other health benefits of exercise is that it can be fun. Fun is something we all want and need. Think of all the fun people have at the beach playing volleyball or on the court playing tennis. There are too many activities to mention in one article where exercise and fun are one and the same.

Use exercise to improve mental health. When a person exercises it affects their mood and makes them feel good. It also improves self esteem and builds confidence. It does this by releasing chemicals in the brain called endorphins that induce a positive frame of mind.

Stress reduction is another health benefit of exercise. It also helps ward off symptoms of depression and anxiety. The focus on problems is taken away and replaced by focus on the activity or exercise. When a person exercises regularly it can't help but give them a sense of well being.

Reduce sleepless nights by exercising in moderation 3-4 days a week for 30-60 minutes. While it reduces the amount of time it takes to fall asleep it also improves quality of sleep while sleeping. Experts believe this is partially due to reduction of worry and tension.

The decision to exercise is one of the most important lifestyle choices a person can make. Without a doubt, health benefits of exercise are many and will greatly improve quality of life. Besides, it's never too late to start.
