Great Healthy Desserts
Would you like to have your cake and eat it too? I know that phrase has become one of the biggest clichés around but I feel, in this situation, it is appropriate. I am going to be taking you through some of the tastiest healthy desserts around in hope that you will be able to find a way to have your cake and eat it too.
These tasty creations allow you to enjoy the flavors of the desserts that you love while helping you in your weight loss quest at the same time. The reason why these healthy desserts are so great for weight loss is that they are made up of a balance of carbohydrates, fats and proteins. When you have a balance of these three, macronutrients, you increase your metabolism and have fewer cravings in the hours afterward. Increasing your metabolism and reducing cravings both help with weight loss.
Personally, I have tried all of these recipes and they pass the taste test with flying colours. I have put these desserts out at social events and have never had to bring any home. In fact, I have received many complements and no one has been able to tell they were healthy desserts at all. I mention this as I know as soon as I mentioned healthy you were likely thinking that taste would be compromised but here that is not the case. The specific recipes that I am going to share are Chocolate Almond Balls, Coconut Chocolate Squares, and a Mint Chocolate Smoothie.
Chocolate Almond Balls
The following recipe will serve one person but you may want to prepare enough for eight to ten servings. Begin with a mixing bowl. Mix 24 grams of vanilla protein powder, 1 teaspoon of unsweetened cocoa powder and 1 tablespoon of apricots into the bowl. Ensure that the apricots are in small pieces. Next, in a separate bowl mix a half teaspoon of olive oil, 1 teaspoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of peanut butter. Ensure that the wet ingredients, just mentioned are in a smooth paste.
Mix the two bowls, or the wet and dry ingredients, together. The goal here is to achieve a consistency that you can form into a ball. You may need some water to do this but add sparingly. Finally, grind up three almonds and roll the ball you formed so that it is coated in the almonds. Be sure to enjoy.
Coconut Chocolate Squares
This recipe is designed for 12 servings. Start off by placing 2 tablespoons of honey, 1/2 cup of water and 6 tablespoons of crunchy peanut butter into a microwavable bowl. Melt this mixture by microwaving for 20 seconds.
When the mixture is melted remove it from the microwave. Add in 225 grams of vanilla protein powder, a 1/2 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder and a half of a cup of shredded coconut. Mix in evenly. Add in 1 1/2 cup of Bran Buds. Form into 12 bars. Add extra water if needed. Serve and enjoy.
Mint Chocolate Smoothie
â¨Here is another favorite for after dinner. The portions given will make one serving. Begin by boiling a half cup of water. When boiled add 2 peppermint tea bags and let steep for 10 minutes. When steeped, add 1 1/4 teaspoons of olive oil, 25 grams of vanilla protein powder, one teaspoon of unsweetened cocoa powder and a half cup of milk. Be sure to enjoy.
There you have it. Now you can have your cake and eat it too with a healthy dessert. Or can you? You will have to try the recipes out for yourself to know for sure. Most importantly, have fun.
