Does chocolate make you happy? It makes me really, really happy!

I enjoy chocolate so much that when I first resolved to eat healthy, I knew giving up chocolate would be a huge challenge. And it really was. So I reflected on it, and came around to the idea that to truly live well, you cannot really deprive yourself of things that truly bring you joy because that would be counterproductive.

To my delight, I found out that what I enjoyed about chocolate wasn't so much the sweetness of it (refined white sugar is the worst thing you can put into your body) but the cocoa. And cocoa is healthy!

Here's a quick, easy, yummy, and healthy recipe for chocolate-banana pudding.

Do you know that banana has plenty of health benefits too? It is a convenient package of:

  • Vitamins
  • Fiber
  • Flavonoids
  • Antioxidants

The great thing is, this recipe can be cost-effective as well. You can pick up a bag of overripe bananas at your local supermarket, and they usually sell these for 99 cents per bag. But normal bananas are usually cheap too. You can make a batch of these with or without a blender, chill them, and store them as a great go-to dessert whenever you need a stress-reliever.

What's more, you don’t have to feel any guilt about eating it because of the health benefits. I find that once I have had my quota of cocoa or sweets, I feel less compelled to order something when I walk past a dessert counter with all its offerings. To eat healthy, you don’t necessarily need to deprive yourself; all you need is a good strategy.

Chocolate Banana Pudding

Two Ingredients

  1. 2 large, ripe bananas
  2. 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder

 Feel free to scale up the portions in this ratio!

Steps With A Blender

  1. Peel bananas, cut them into quarters
  2. Add 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder
  3. Blend and chill

I personally find that a blender is really very handy for healthy eating because you can just blend in beneficial ingredients really easily.

Steps Without A Blender

  1. Peel bananas, cut them into quarters
  2. Mash them with a fork
  3. Add 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder
  4. Mash them together with a fork until well-blended
  5. Chill and serve

Yay for a quick yummy dessert!

Healthy tip: Try to restrict your intake to just 2 or 4 bananas a day, because bananas are still sweet. Ultimately, you would want to readjust your taste buds to enjoy foods with a low sugar content.
