By Edited Jan 29, 2016 3 4

After Surgery Care

Before having any surgery you need to understand all the implications of pre and post-operative surgical instructions. Sometimes this is more daunting than the surgery itself. The same applies for Dental treatment or Jaw surgery.

After Tooth extractions, crowns and other dental treatment it is crucial that you eat soft foods and do not eat strawberries with small seeds that could collect in the wound.[2]

Part of the medical instructions for after surgery treatment and care will involve a soft food diet.   It is important that your soft food diet includes foods with high nutrition and protein to help with your recovery.

Nice advice, but watch out for sugar and sticky starches because they ferment and cause infections!
Xylitol is a sugar that is beneficial to teeth in many ways. So use it instead for your lovely recipes. Then the wounds will heal easier. My husband is having his sutures out today after a week from hell with his molar implant. It was xylitol that he "sucked around the tooth" plus our non toxic fluoride-free toothpaste that saved the day.

Thanks Yindee, good advice, We do not have sugar in anything, well except when making custard or similar. My bug is eating too many lollies. I am trying to cut back. I will tell him about that xylitol.

This is really helpful. Sometimes after dental work one is unable to open the mouth much, so the soft foods really come in handy.

Thanks WriterJanis, I have to agree with you, as my husband is still eating a lot of soft foods because he has been going to the same dentist now for fourteen months and much of the work first done did not work. So most has to be redone. It is driving him mad, and sick of softer sort of foods.
