Heating Radiators for Your Home Living Areas
There is a vast selection of heating radiators for homes available, ranging from central heating radiators to small, but very effective bathroom towel heating radiators. It can be fairly complex trying to decide which radiator is best for your home, or which heating system will suit your needs.
If you already have a central heating radiator system, then all that is needed is to perform regular maintenance on them, preferably doing this before the winter season starts. If your radiators are old you may want to consider replacing them either all at once or one unit as a time. Older radiators are not always that energy efficient and while it may seem like quite an expense to have to buy all new radiators, you may well find that you end up saving yourself money in the long run.
Perhaps your main central heating system is fine and all you need is additional heating in some rooms, or heating for rooms that are not hooked up to the central heating system. Electric heating radiators, the panel kind, work very well for most homes. They are simple to operate, unobtrusive, nicely designed and they are also very energy efficient. Most come with a thermostat that can help regulate the temperature and you can also buy them with timers so you can program them to come on just before bed, for example, and turn off a few hours later.
Another popular heating radiator for the home is the towel radiator. This is very easy to install in your bathroom, and it performs two tasks equally as well. It is great for warming your bathroom. No one likes showering in a cold bathroom, especially children! If you have a hard time getting your little ones to enjoy their showers during winter, installing a towel radiator may be just what is needed. They are also great for drying damp towels and warming cold ones.
Most modern electric radiators provide ample radiant heating for an average sized room, though if you want to heat larger spaces you may need to invest in two rather than just buying one larger sized unit. A common misconception, especially with electric radiators is that bigger is better. However, if you are trying to heat up a large living room, for example, it is usually more energy saving to buy two smaller models and place them at opposite ends of the room. They are able to keep the room at a more even temperature. One single larger unit will have a hard time heating up all of the room, and thus it will tend to stay on for much longer periods of time while attempting to provide heating.
