Obviously, as a guy we don't normally care much for baby hair clips or any other hair products for that matter. This is your daughter you're talking about now so you're going to have to suck it up and learn to love picking things for your daughter. The alternative is your beautiful baby girl choosing her own styles which leads to father's favorites including grunge, Goth, and "not appropriate."
The Style
So when choosing your little girl's first baby hair clips you're going to want to choose something that says I'm a princess and too good for you. That is the attitude you'll want her to carry all the way through high school. You never want her to settle, but always play hard to get. So find a nice regal, gaudy hair clip.
Bright colors that stand out from her hair are usually a good idea. The first reason is so you'll notice when it's not in her hair, which it won't be a lot because she'll take it out just you have something to do. The best material is actually wood or metal because it will stand up to wear and tear. If you choose metal ensure that it has no sharp ends because she will try and poke herself with it. I prefer to avoid plastic because it chunks and scrapes funny when children chew on it and plastic isn't good for any little body.
Be wary of what is used to color the hair clip. Some paints are very dangerous, and sadly some foreign companies still use lead in the paint. Find natural tones or natural dyes for the ideal coloring and safety.
The Price
The price of baby hair clips runs everywhere from dollar store to bank loan. If you are trying to show to everyone else how much you love your little girl you probably kind find an online jewelry store that has baby hair clips made of white gold and fancy jewels. Of course she's still going to stick it up her nose, but it's your choice.
