Helping Others Realize The Benefits And Drawbacks Of Egyptian Cotton Sheets

By | Jul 23, 2010 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

Egyptian cotton sheets have been popular for some time now. As time goes on, the price point of these sheets has continued to come down to the point where it is now possible to get a queen sized set of 1000 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets for around 30 bucks. What was once costing multiple hundreds of dollars is now available for a fraction of that.

However, if one's goal is to buy the best sheets they can find for the best night's sleep they can find, does it make much sense to search out the absolute rock-bottom price for something that is still called luxury bedding? Wouldn't it be better to find Egyptian cotton sheets that are of good to excellent quality from a manufacturer or retailer who has a reputation for quality?

Here's the thing – Egyptian cotton sheets are considered quality and luxurious because they are. When done right, they will provide a person with a far better night's sleep than comparable sheets made of other kinds of cotton. If they are made well. Just buying something that says Egyptian cotton cannot guarantee you are buying something that will live up to the marketing hype surrounding Egyptian cotton sheets.

Because here's the second thing – yes, they are great. But for the majority of people, buying a set of sheets made from other cotton that is in many ways considered inferior to Egyptian cotton will not automatically turn your blessed sleep into a night of twisting, turning and scratchy horror. The same thing applies to other cotton sheets as to the ones made from cotton from Egypt – buy something from a well-respected manufacturer or a retailer you trust. A true thread count above 600 is enough. And be sure you get percale weave sheets.

Egyptian cotton sheets are great, however, the fine folks over at The Right Bedding hate to see people fall prey to marketing hype and overspend on something they don't need to or buy something on the cheap thinking they are getting luxury bedding but only ending up with a case of buyer's remorse. So if you've got the scratch to pony up for a set of Egyptian cotton sheets, then do so and realize you'll be getting a set of luxury bedding that will last a long time if taken care of. But if you don't have the scratch for it, avoid disappointment and get yourself a set of non-Egyptian cotton percale sheets with a thread count around 400-600 and realize that not only have you just saved yourself a bunch of money, you'll also be sleeping on sheets that are quite awesome.
