Designer clothes have become the must have items no matter what income bracket consumers belong in. Many great designers have come along and their clothing and shoe lines have made them household names. Surprisingly many of today’s best designers make lines that are tailored to those on a budget. This helps to get their brands out to mainstream America. Some designers however are not willing to compromise on quality of material and brand down play to capture this demographic. Regardless, of whom their clothes are made for; we must all admit, these designers are phenomenal at what they do and we love them for it.

Riccardo Tisci - Givenchy

Born in 1974 in Italy, educated at the world-renowned fashion design school Central Saint Martin in London. In 2005 he was given the honor of becoming the Creative Director of Givenchy. He is one of the most prominent designers in popular culture today. His design reflects urban culture and is revolutionary in men’s styles. He pushes his designs to the limits of combinations between high fashion and street style. He set the design world on fire when he introduced the first transgender model, Lea T. into high fashion by putting her in his runway show in Paris. Remember this name, he is a trailblazer and one to be watched for what the future of fashion will look like.

Born in 1942 in Italy, unlike many other designers Miuccia has a PHD in Political Science with no formal fashion design education. Her first collection was revealed in 1989 and she created the Miu Miu brand in 1992. Miuccia is the most influential Italian designer of our time. Miuccia Prada has turned this brand into a status symbol for the rich and famous.

Sarah Burton did just that as the protégée for the late great Alexander McQueen. After his death in 2010, she was left to keep the name of his legacy alive. Sarah was born in 1974 in London, England and educated at Central Saint Martin. In 1997, she graduated and became the personal assistant to Alexander McQueen. Since McQueen’s death she has continued to design great clothes worn by the likes of Michelle Obama, Lady GaGa and Kate Blanchette. Her most famous design to date of course was the beautiful wedding gown that Kate Middleton wore as she wed Prince William.

He graduated from the High School of Art and Design in 1981 and then studied art at Parsons School of Design. Before graduation from Parsons he had already designed his first collection which he was able to successfully sell and completed his first collection under Sketchbook. Marc is the head designer for his brand. Currently Marc Jacobs is well-known for his stores which total over 230 in 60 countries. He has become somewhat of a celebrity himself because of friendships and clientele in NY social scene. As the creative director of Louis Vutton, Jacobs has created a ready to wear fashion collection.

This German designer is a man of many talents. Not only is he a designer; he is also a film maker and photographer. He is best known for being the head designer for Chanel. Lagerfeld is the father of reinvention. He has been called a designer that stays in the moment when it comes to his fashion sense. At 14 years of age Lagerfeld made the decision that he would move to Paris. After being there for only a couple of years he was able to win first place in a fashion competition in the Coat category. After working for several brands successfully like Fendi and Chloe; he revived the Chanel brand. Lagerfeld launched his brand in 1984. His tailored clothing and cardigan jackets were the signatures of his brand. After selling his clothing line to Tommy Hilfiger, he did work in film and photography. His latest endeavor has been designing a glassware collection and a clothing line for Macy’s.

Beautiful clothes and shoes come from the minds of truly talented people. Most learned early in life that fashion was the direction they we're headed in. Men and women everywhere are cheering their choice in profession.
