High Speed Rural Internet Options

By | 1 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

Just because you may live in the country does not mean that you need to be isolated from modern technology. In times past, high speed internet was not offered in rural areas and residents just had to suffer through the slow speeds of dial up. However, today rural residents have a few options when it comes to getting high speed internet.

Some of the most popular high speed internet services in rural areas comes via satellite. Several satellite internet companies now offer rural areas a fast internet connection along with a one or two year contract of services. If you plan on staying in that location for a couple of years, satellite internet may be a great option for you.

Another option that is gaining popularity is high speed internet that is offered through a utility company. Electric companies are beginning to offer high speed rural internet as part of their utility services. These companies are constantly expanding their areas of service, so if your power company does not currently offer this service you may be able to get on a waiting list.

Wireless cell phone companies have also taken their place on the high speed rural internet and offer a variety of products to fill the need. Many of the latest cell phones can be used as modems to connect a home computer to the internet, and many companies also offer cards that can give the user high speed rural internet access. Check with your wireless phone provider for more details.

Wimax is now a very good way of getting high speen internet into rural areas. Check out WiMax vs Wifi for more details. I actually run a company that specialises in doing this, so get in contact if you need this service in Wales.
