HOG HUNTING METHODS
Here are some of the common methods to hunting wild hogs and a brief description for each hunting method.

Hog Hunt from a Tree Stand
When you hog hunt from a tree stand you have already did your due diligence of locating a great spot such as a watering and wallowing hole or feeding area or such. Maybe you have even set up a feeder days in advance.
You sit patiently and wait for the opportune time, and your hog to come into your kill zone, then use your rifle or bow to take your shot. Almost like deer hunting.
Ground Blind
Ground blinds are like camouflaged tents. Using a ground blind to hunt from involves finding a great location and is similar to tree stand hunting but gives you a different vantage point and must be located properly to get good aims from any tree obstructions or land obstacles that may pose a problem.
Try using bait methods to get hogs in your kill zone to improve your chances. The longer the blind is in position the better the hogs won’t be spooked.
Spot and Stalk
This is a simple method but definitely not as easy as it sounds. Usually you become familiar with the location or area to be hunted. Wild hogs are frequenting on a regular basis and you walk around or drive around the area until the hogs are spotted.
If you’re familiar with their habits and stay down wind when you’re stalking, you can get close enough to get a big wild hog in your kill zone.
Night Hunt
Hunting wild hogs at night is when the wild hogs are at their most active.
Night time hog hunting usually involves having a feeder set up days before the actual hunt takes place to get the hogs acclimated to feeding at certain times and at that location.
Some type of night light is set up at the feeder, usually a colored one so the hogs can be seen at the feeder.
Many of the hunters have specialized scopes for night view and many other gadgets to help bag that wild hog at night, such as blood tracking lights to follow blood trails etc.
As with most hog hunting methods stay down wind if possible. Hogs have great smell and hearing but poor eyesight.
Trapping
More and more frequently this method is being utilized to relocate, euthanize and or capture hogs for the reason it can get several at a time.
Simply put the trap in the proper location, and start a pre- baiting routine to entice the hogs into the trap, and when they become accustomed to it, you set the trap to capture them.
There are many different trap styles and sizes to choose from.
You can capture one hog at a time or many depending on the trap and techniques chosen.
Hog Dogs
Using hog dogs by far is the most aggressive and exciting approach to hog hunting.
Briefly: Using this approach is generally done by releasing some trained dogs to hunt down the wild hogs. After finding them the catch and hold dogs grab the hog and hold it till the hunter takes care of the rest, whether it is a kill, or tie up, or release.

There are other methods and procedures for hunting wild hogs. These are brief descriptions of some of the more common methods. Wild hogs can be dangerous, especially when cornered or protecting their young. Take all precautions before approaching them.
