Home Inventory With a Barcode Scanner
Lending books and DVDs is a friendly thing to do. But after a while, you begin to wonder where all those gaps on the shelves came from. If you have a large movie collection or home library, you may want to look in to a barcode scanner to help keep track of them all.
DVD collections are a point of pride with most people, from having the best movies to having the most. If you are like most people, you either know someone like this or you are someone like this. When you lend them out though, you would like to make sure you get them back.
By labeling and scanning them in to your computer, you cannot only track which ones you have, but who you lent them to. This is especially helpful if you have a large number of movies and store them in a closet or boxes. If a friend asks if you have a particular movie, you can look it up and also locate it easily.
Books fall into the same category as movies. Because books take longer to get through than a movie, it is easy to forget who you lent it to after some time has passed. Using a barcode scanner lets you know where they went and how long ago.
Home electronics are yet another application where a barcode scanner comes in handy. By labeling these, you can have a complete inventory of all your appliances. Using the software that comes with it, you can track model and serial numbers for replacement parts and warranty information also.
Books, DVDs, CDs, even lawn and garden equipment. These can all be bar-coded and inventoried. Be a good neighbor and friend, but keep track of your property. After all, these things are yours and keeping track is only natural.
