Natural and Home Remedies For Eczema That Work For Me

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 0

You may want to try natural and home remedies for eczema in case that your medical treatment is not good enough.

My doctor prescribed me corticosteroids. They are effective to diminish the inflammation and put your eczema under control, but if you have chronic eczema like me, you probably know that corticosteroids don't remove eczema completely. Sooner or later it starts to itch again being almost impossible to resist the urge to scratch. Then, your old eczema friend comes again.

Corticosteroids atrophy your skin long term, so the less you use them the better. I managed this year to use them less an less thanks to these life-enhancing home remedies for eczema that I want to share with you. They are not a substitute for your medical treatment, they are just a complement that may help you enormously to stop depending on your pomade or cream. In fact, I haven't used any cream for at least two month in some skin areas and my scalp doesn't itch anymore. These remedies act alleviating my itching in such a way that I'm able to sleep like a baby and live a more normal life. No itching, no scratching, then no eczema. I hope they work for you too!

Alcohol-free rose water

Use it every day to wash your skin, specially on your itchy areas. Some pharmacies or drug stores sell rose water in the form of spray so you can wet your skin more easily. You can also use rose water before applying your cream, there's no need to dry the area before.

My father told me about this. He also has this chronic eczema problem (but somehow I managed to get the worst part). Rose water makes wonders for him too.

Camomile tea

Heat about 1 liter (34 oz.) of water in a saucepan. Once the water is boiling, remove the saucepan from heat and put 4 camomile tea bags in there. Then, cover the saucepan and leave it there for 1-2 hours. After that, you can keep the camomile in a bottle next to your shower gel and shampoo.

After washing your hair, pour some camomile in your head. This is going to alleviate your itching so much it is unbelievable. You can pour it in your body too, but I have to say that rose water works better for me when applied to the body.

They say camomile makes your hair lighter. Anyway, being a dark-haired guy I didn't notice any of this :)

Water, of course

Drink plenty of water. Water keeps your skin well moisturized and makes your kidneys work better. If you don't drink enough water your kidneys won't be able to flush out all the toxins and, with toxins in the body, your eczema problem can be aggravated.

Now, fight the root of all eczema evil

As you probably know, this chronic eczema thing seems to have a psychological cause. Maybe you suffer from anxiety or stress. These are factors that you should consider in order to understand the cause of your problem.

Do you know what can help you a lot? Sports and meditation. They reduce your anxiety and your stress, and create the most perfect barrier against external agents: your boss, your money problems, your mother in law...  Bring some happiness into your life!
