Home Remedies For Teeth Whitening
Have you seen how the teeth whitening craze has been gathering a lot of steam in the past few years? As the technology behind the method becomes cheaper with each passing year, more and more people want to jump on the teeth whitening wagon. Of all the cosmetic procedures available to us, teeth whitening is one of the easiest, most affordable, non-invasive enhancements you can find. Not only that, but the results of teeth whitening are instant in case you are going to have a dentist give you the treatment.
Home Remedies For Teeth Whitening
If you are going to do it at home using an over the counter whitening
kit, it's going to take you a little longer. With most whitening tray systems, the instructions will tell you to use the tray for about a week or two. But in the end, you can still achieve the same results as the dentist can! If you don't mind having to go througha little more trouble for a little while longer, then the the biggest difference between home remedies for teeth whitening and a laser treatment at the dentist, is that the dentist can be a lot more expensive.
At home products cost you a lot less. But if you intend to use them frequently and you use up many whitening kits per year, then perhaps you might just as well have gone to the dentist. It would've cost the same amount of money and you'd have the same results quicker. The dentist's results also tend to last a little longer.
If you are looking to try out relatively cheap and harmless tooth whitening products, you should try out the whitening toohpastes and mouthwashes that are available in stores today. These products will not give you the shiny, pearly whites you have seen in the commercials. But they still work a little bit.
However, if you truly want to whiten your teeth (that is: make them ~10 shades whiter), then you must absolutely use a carbamide peroxide based product. Now you're looking at tray- and strip-systems. These systems allow you to wear a tray or a strip in your mouth at night. These trays and strips keep the carbamide peroxide gel in place while it does its work.
When the carbamide gel comes in contact with the moistness of your mouth, it will start its chemical reaction. The hydrogen peroxide is gradually released from the carbamide peroxide over the coming hours. The hydrogen peroxide gets into your teeth's enamel, where it breaks down the unsightly stains into colorless byproducts.
Since the hydrogen peroxide also breaks down your enamel, you must be very careful that you don't expose your enamel to the gel for too long. If you do, you run the risk of developing enamel damage from teeth whitening. Highly damaged enamel cannot recover and will leave you with sensitive teeth permanently. So be very careful with this!
As long as you use at home whitening kits responsibly, you should be able to achieve really nice results without suffering any long term side effects.
