Home remedy for acne pimples is not a far off fantasy, there is a lot you can do to treat your pimples at home. When is the best time to start treating your acne? As soon as you feel or see a pimple starting you should take steps to start treating your out break.

You should start by thoroughly cleansing your face with a gentle antimicrobial soap. Antimicrobial soap is inexpensive and easily available at any drugstore. It is best to select a mild soap whenever possible, and one specially formulated for acne treatment of either oily or sensitive skin. If your pimples are particularly persistent, you can also try using astringent made form tea tree oil. Tea Tree oil also has a mild antibacterial property and will help to kill the bacteria on the skins surface which will make your skin more likely to breakout as your current pimple heals.

If your pimple is rather large, swollen or discolored, try applying an ice pack for several minutes to the affected area to bring down the swelling and inflammation around the pimple. Ice packs will also make the area less itchy.

If your skin is particularly oily, there are several effective home remedies you can make at home to help reduce the oiliness on the skin. Common home remedies for acne are generally made into masks. Two good ones are made from baking soda and water paste, or egg whites. Apply the mask to either the entire face, or just the affected areas depending on how oily your skin is. Allow to dry for several minutes, and then rinse with cool water. Pat your face dry with a clean towel, but do not rub. Rubbing the surface of the skin will encourage the sebaceous glands to produce more oil than normal, so do not rub.

Home remedy for treating acne is not difficult, although some have only minimal success depending on the severity of the problem. If your acne is more severe, of the pitted variety, or does not clear with home treatments relatively quickly, consult your dermatologist for their advice. You may not be able to clear up your skin with home remedies alone. On the other hand, many of us have only occasional break outs which do not last long. If your acne pimples are relatively few, or your breakouts are mild trying a home remedy first may be the right option for you.
