Many of us are seeking home remedies for the common cold instead of waiting in the doctor's waiting room especially this time of the year. It's always an exciting time of year, the leaves are changing colors, holidays are approaching, families are getting together and celebrating Thanks giving or Christmas. But unfortunately, it is also that time of year when many of us suffer from the common cold. Some of us are lucky and recover quickly, whilst others not so much. Here are some remedies for the common cold that will cure and probably help soothe the common cold.
A cup of warm tea on a cold day is delightful but by adding a few slices of ginger, a clove, a bay leaf and a pinch of pepper you made a homemade tea, that will help cure your cold. Drink it twice a day and cut the intake once you start recovering. If this is something that you might not be able to drink because of all the spices in it, try ginger tea
Along with the stuffy and runny nose, most of us have a hard time getting rid of a cough, when we suffer from a cold. My remedy for the common cold is to add one gram of turmeric powder to one teaspoon of honey and eat it.
A sore scratchy throat is always the first sign of one getting the cold. Cumin seeds are a wonderful cure for a sore throat. Boil some water to which add a teaspoon of cumin seeds and a few pieces of dry ginger. Simmer the water for a few minutes. Allow it to cool and drink it twice daily. This will help get rid of the sore throat.
Now how do we get rid of that stuffy nose. A blocked nose is relieved by inhaling the aroma of carom seeds. Crush some carom seeds in a coffee grinder and tie it in a cloth or handkerchief. Inhale this pouch as needed. To relieve congestion or a blocked nose at night place the pouch on your pillow. This will allow you to breathe easily and have a peaceful night sleep.
So there you have it. These are some home remedies for the common cold that were passed on to me, by my grandmother. Hopefully these natural remedies will help you cure your cold. Maybe it will save you a visit to the doctor and save you some money with not purchasing any medications. Remember these are remedies for the common cold and should not be used if you have a serious medical condition. Furthermore, consult your primary physician before you begin to use a home remedy for a cold especially if you have a pre-existing medical condition.
