When feet are dried out with cracks and flaky skin it is time to exfoliate them well with a homemade peppermint foot scrub. A homemade peppermint foot scrub is pretty simply to make and you only need a few basic ingredients to make it. In addition, the scrub will also help relieve foot pains and help soften the feet up so they can be beautiful again.

Okay, so the organic ingredients you will need to make a homemade peppermint foot scrub are 2 cups of white sugar, 1 cup of almond oil, and 10 drops of peppermint essential oil, 5 drops of menthol oil essential oil, and 5 drops of tea tree essential oil. The reasons I use these ingredients in this foot scrub recipe are because they help exfoliate dead skin and have anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-septic and anti-inflammatory properties. These ingredients also help relieve aches, pains and stiffness in the feet while lightly conditioning them so they can be soft and smooth. You should be able to find these ingredients at any of your local grocery stores and herbal shops. They ingredients can be expensive if you don’t already have them on hand, but once you have the ingredients you will be able to make many batches of foot scrub.

Now once you have all the ingredients, you will also need some materials such as a mixing bowl and spoon and a container or jar to store the scrub in. Once you have everything you can begin making your homemade peppermint foot scrub.

To make the homemade peppermint foot scrub all you will need to do is pour all the ingredients into the mixing bowl and combine them together until you get a thick sugary gritty slightly golden scrub that has a lovely peppermint scent to it. Now if you find the scrub is too thick add a bit more oil until you get the consistency you are looking for. If you find the scrub is too liquid like add more sugar until you thicken it up just enough. I personally like my scrub thick gritty with some oil to it to really help work it into my feet well, but this recipe is flexible so make this scrub the way you would like too. When the scrub is ready pour it into a container or jar and take it into the bathroom to use immediately.

So, when you are ready to use the homemade peppermint foot scrub it is best to soak your feet in a relaxing footbath for 20 minutes or longer if possible to help soften the feet up so they are easier to exfoliate with the scrub. Then go into the bathroom place you feet over the tub and take handfuls of the scrub and rub it into your feet using small circular motions for about 2 minutes per foot. This will really help slug off the dead skin cells well. Once you feet your feet are well exfoliated, simply rinse your feet off, towel dry them and apply a foot lotion to help keep them soft and nourished.
