If you cringe when it comes time to shave your legs, because of the burn you feel after, or you just don't like buying shaving gel as it gets expensive and messy foaming from the can, then here is a simple homemade shaving cream that works really well, leaves your skin feeling soft with no burn, and cost very little.
You most likely have these ingredients in your house right now, so it can be made for pennies and all you need is a clean container with a good lid, to put it in so you can use it for many uses, then wash it out and make some more. I personally find, those small plastic travel shampoo containers work well, but use whatever you have that is clean and has a lid (you will have to shake it, so a lid is good!)
To buy shaving gel and shaving cream in the store can get expensive, and if you are trying to save money on your beauty products, then this is a good place to start. You don't have to resort to just using soapy water in the shower, give this a try. The money you save can be invested in a decent razor!
Ingredients for Homemade Shaving Cream
2 tablespoons of conditioner
2 tablespoons of shampoo (this does work best if they are the same brand of shampoo and conditioner)
1 teaspoon baby oil
1 teaspoon of your favorite hand cream
Now all you do, is take your clean container and pour in the measured amounts of the shampoo and conditioner, mix together, and then add the baby oil and hand cream. Put the lid on the container or clean bottle and shake it, until everything is blended well.
Now use this lather for your underarms and legs, and then shave as usual and then rinse off well. You can keep this bottle in the bathroom for about a month. You will probably use it up by then, but otherwise if it looks separated at all, just shake it up to mix again.
This is gentle, but if you are concerned, you can try a bit on a patch of leg to see if you have any reactions, but chances are, if this is the same shampoo and conditioner you use on your hair, and the hand lotion is your regular lotion, then you should not have any reactions.
This makes up quickly and smells nice, if you have nice smelling shampoo, and is soft and gentle on the skin. Hopefully you no longer deal with razor burns after trying this homemade shaving cream recipe.
Just keep it on the side of the bath or shower, and give it a shake, it is ready to use right away. Make sure and change your blades on your razor, as often as needed, as a dull blade can leave that burning feeling too. Now that you are saving money with this homemade shaving cream, invest in some extra blades, so you don't have to resort to using that dull blade you keep leaving in the shower or bath!
