Homemade Whole Wheat Tortilla's!!

Today I realized I ran out of bread and I make homemade bread for myself, I figure if I don't want the junk that is in regular bread it's either make it myself or spent $5.00 on a small loaf. If I am out of bread I make a homemade tortilla and it's just about the simplest thing ever to make, Here’s the recipe! Just to let everyone know 1/4 cup of flour makes 1 tortilla each so if you have 1 cup of flour that would be 4 tortillas.

 

Servings: 1 tortilla

 

1/4 Cup Whole Wheat Flour(I prefer organic)

 

3 TBS Water

 

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

 

Now all you have to is mix it all together make sure there was enough water it might take . Take your rolling-pin and roll out to the thickness you like, Now take a frying pan and grease with a bit of cooking spray or butter (about 1/4 teaspoon butter) let the pan heat up a bit and put tortilla on pan when you see it starting to bubble through turn to the other side, the other side take a few seconds to cook the rest of the way. The tortilla will be golden brown or to the point you like. Enjoy‼☺

Store bought tortillas…

We probably all know that tortillas from the store are not going to be as good for you but I bet you didn’t think they would be this bad for you either… These are the ingredients in Mission Medium/Soft Taco Whole Wheat Tortillas…

Whole wheat flour, water, vegetable shortening (interesterified soybean oil, hydrogenated soybean oil and/or palm oil), contains 2% or less of: leavening (sodium bicarbonate, sodium aluminum sulfate, corn starch, monocalcium phosphate and/or sodium acid pyrophosphate, calcium sulfate), sugar, salt, preservatives (calcium propionate, sorbic acid and/or citric acid), cellulose gum, distilled monoglycerides, enzymes, wheat starch, calcium carbonate, antioxidants (tocopherols, ascorbic acid), dough conditioners (fumaric acid, sodium metabisulfite and/or mono- and diglycerides).

I know exactly what you’re thinking, what in the world are all these ingredients most people can’t pronounce them, and even if they could are you still going to want to eat it?? What I think is crazy is that my tortillas have three simple ingredients and this store-bought variety has 28-30 ingredients, and most ingredients are preservatives just so they have a longer shelve life, kind of disgusting that’s like when they put formaldehyde in bread so that the bread has a longer shelve life. It’s absolutely disgusting to me, and for these reasons you need to start making your own tortillas at home so you have control over what you eat.
