Hoover SteamVac Carpet Cleaner with Clean Surge F5914-900

Do you hate having rent a steam vacuum every time you want to clean your carpet? Renting a steam vacuum costs money each time so you might as well make a small investment and buy your own. By choosing your own, you can get a quality vacuum that does a much better job than the ones you rent.

I did some research online and came upon the Hoover SteamVac Carpet Cleaner with Clean Surge F5914-900. I hadn't cleaned my carpet in years and it was looking really dirty. So I went ahead and bought the Hoover F5914-900 based on all the good reviews on it and gave it a try.

The Hoover seemed to do a pretty good job on my dirty old carpet. The difference was very noticeable. However, I wouldn't say that it returned the carpet to new condition. A couple more times of cleaning made it better each time. When I do a cleaning run I use boiling water to get the temperature high. This keeps the water pretty hot once it comes out of the spray and cleans the carpet better. I usually go pretty slowly when I'm cleaning the carpet. In areas that are really dirty I go over it several times. You should also use this often. If you don't clean your carpet for years like I did, then there will be some parts where you'll never get it cleaned no matter what you do.

Some of the problems that I have with this Hoover SteamVac Carpet Cleaner is that the water container gets full pretty fast so you have to dump it out often. It can become a real hassle to keep changing the water container while you're in the middle of cleaning. Another issue with this carpet cleaner was that the product description states that it can clean bare floors. But in order to do that, you would need to purchase a separate attachment which was not included with this carpet cleaner. I've looked in many stores for this attachment but I couldn't find it.

So all in all, if you are looking to clean your carpet, this a good machine but if you want to clean your hardwood floor you may want to look elsewhere.
