Hosta Cameo
Hosta Cameo is ranked #11-ok it's actually just an honorable mention not a number but numbers keep with my theme of the best miniature Hostas by the American Hosta Society. Cameo is a sport of Hosta Baby Bunting which is also on the list of best minis.
Hosta Cameo is a nice variegated Hosta which looks like the mini Hosta Pandora's Box only in reverse. The leaves of this plant are medium green with narrow cream edges. This plant grows to 5 inches tall with a spread of 13 inches. The leaves of Cameo are oval and 2.25 inches long by 2 inches wide. The leaves are lightly textured.
The dark purple flowers of Cameo are tubular in shape and are on 15 inch flower stalks. The flowers bloom from early June to mid July. The seeds of this Hosta are sterile and can't be used for propagation. Division is the only method available to propagate Cameo. Luckily Hostas are easy to divide, just make sure that all pieces that are to be replanted have an eye for growing and water the new divisions well after replanting.
This plant actually looks like a Hosta unlike some of the other miniatures. It looks like some of the variegated sieboldiana Hostas which are always very popular. This is a shade Hosta and should not be planted in the sun. It is also not slug resistant.
Hosta Cameo is a great miniature Hosta for those small spaces. This plant can be combined with most other shade loving perennials as long as they like frequent watering. This plant forms a nice and symmetrical mound of foliage and can work in formal settings, casual gardens, or a woodland garden.
