General Information
Hosta Captain Kirk is a fast growing large Hosta plant. It is a sport of the ever popular Hosta Gold Standard. This plant forms a neat and attractive clump in short order. This plant can be grown for its inherent beauty or can be used in a space or Star Trek themed garden.

Plant and Leaf Size
This perennial plant grows to 26 inches high and forms a clump that gets 40 inches wide. The leaves of Captain Kirk are 8 inches long by 7 inches wide.

Leaf Color and Details
The leaves of Hosta Captain Kirk are yellow with a wide dark green margin. The leaves are thick and give this plant some slug protection. The leaves are moderately textured and the veins are quite visible.

Flower Color and Details
The flowers of this plant are pale lavender and they bloom in mid-summer. The flowers of Captain Kirk are sterile and propagation of this Hosta needs to be done by division only. This plant is easy to divide so long as the new plants are given plenty of water.

This is a large Hosta and does require a certain amount of garden space. This is not a good option for a very small garden where space is tight. In a large garden or a new garden that is being filled this is a great option. This plant likes some sun so it has a bit more flexibility as to where it can be planted than the shade only Hosta varieties.

Hosta Captain Kirk is a tough garden plant that when given general Hosta care will live for a long time. This plant is not fussy about its conditions and can be grown in poor to moderately fertile soil assuming it is given fertilizer occasionally.
