Hosta Final Summation

General Information
Hosta Final Summation is a large variegated Hosta. This plant is a sport of Hosta Sum and Substance. This plant has a medium rate of growth and likes to be grown in the shade.

Plant Size and Details
This large Hosta plant grows to 20 inches high and forms a clump that is 40 inches in diameter. Final Summation forms a tight clump of upright foliage which will brighten up any shady corner of the garden. This plant is not slug resistant.

Leaf Color and Details
The leaves of this shade plant are almost round and are 16 inches long by 12 inches wide. The color variegation is golden yellow with a dark green margin. The leaves of this plant are shiny and have little texture but somewhat prominent veining. The leaves are somewhat rippled and wavy.

Flower Details
The flowers of Hosta Final Summation bloom from mid July to mid August and this plant has 40 inch flower stalks. This plant does set viable seed and can be used for experimental breeding purposes. Final Summation should be propagated by division as any seed that is planted will not look like the parent plant. This plant is under patent and that should be taken into consideration prior to any attempt at dividing.

This is a very attractive Hosta and can be grown in any shady garden spot. As with all other Hosta plants Hosta Final Summation needs plenty of water, well-drained soil, and occasional fertilizing. Good companions for Final Summation are other shade plants that like frequent and regular watering. This is not a commonly grown Hosta variety and is normally easy to locate at online retailers. It is not often seen at brick and mortar nurseries but can occasionally be found at those that have a wide variety of Hosta types.
