General Information
Hosta Journey's End is a large variegated perennial which has won several awards at Hosta conventions. This is a sport of Hosta Choo Choo Train. Journey's End is under patent until 4/6/2025. This is a beautiful upright Hosta plant with great colors.
Plant and Leaf Size
This large Hosta gets to 24 inches high and forms a clump that gets to over 4 foot wide. The ruffled leaves of this plant are also large measuring 14 inches long by 10 inches wide. Large plants need a lot of space and this one will not work in a small garden.
Leaf Color and Details
The leaves of Hosta Journey's End have a yellow center and dark green edges. Where the center and the margin of the leaves meet there the leaves can show several shades of green. The edges of this plant are very ruffled giving it some added interest. The leaves of Journey's End are oval in shape and slightly textured and have very visible veining.
Flower Color and Details
The flowers of this Hosta are pale lavender and they bloom from early June until mid July. The seed is viable but you should not expect to get a plant similar to the parent plant by sowing seeds. To get more of the same plant division is the only option for propagation.
Hosta Journey's End is a unique and beautiful plant that does best if given at least some sun during the day. If this plant is grown in complete shade the colors are not as vibrant. This plant is not a sun loving Hosta but does need a little indirect or dappled sunlight. Journey's End is not slug resistant and a certain amount of slug damage can be expect in a garden that has these pests.
