Hosta Pandora's Box is the top Miniature Hosta for 2010 according to the American Hosta Society. Pandora's Box is not only the top rated mini but it also has made it into the top 25 of the best overall Hostas. Miniatures seldom make the cut for the general list and this one was the first to do so. This is a sport of Hosta Baby Bunting which is rated #3 for 2010 so Pandora's Box comes from a line of exceptional Hosta plants.

This is a beautiful variegated miniature Hosta that grows to 8 inches high and forms a 10 inch clump. It has a creamy white base color and blue green edges. The edge coloration of this plant streaks into the white center which gives this plant some pizzazz. The leaves are oval and are 2 inches long by 1.5 inches wide and slug resistant.

Hosta Pandora's Box has a moderate rate of growth and the plant has a nice form. The leaves are flat and glossy with no texturing. The leaves show very slight folding. This mini should be planted in as much shade as possible to keep the leaves from burning. This plant is slug resistant and if slugs are a concern this plant won't have too much trouble with them.

The purple flowers of Pandora's Box are 7 inches high, are bell shaped, and bloom from mid June to early July. The flowers of this Hosta are sterile and any propagation must be done by division. The flowers of Hosta plants are not normally all that interesting but they do get them.
