Hostels in Dublin
Fun and friendly Dublin is a backpackers dream through and through. By day you can spend your time here touring the city's many impressive cultural assests, such as the National Museum and the National Gallery. Then, come nightfall, it's all about the party, with Dublin's locals and tourists taking to the city's many pubs and bars, side by side and arm in arm.
Of late, prices in Dublin have been on the rise (although it still remains cheap in comparison with other European capitals, such as London and Madrid). Fortunately, there's a vibrant hostel scene here that insures backpackers can find great, cheap accommodation when visiting the destination.
A bed for the night in any one of the following hostels can be secured for well under 20 Euros. Not bad, considering hotels normally start at about twice that amount, and are about half as personable and welcoming.
Jacob's Inn Plus. One of the most abidingly popular youth hostels in Dublin is Jacob's Inn Plus, the luxury extension to the Jacob's Inn establishment. Aside from its high level of cleanliness, the hostel continues to draw crowds thanks to its central location. The fact that every room comes with a deluxe ensuite also helps its cause.
Kinlay House. Kinlay House is the type of hostel that backpackers just adore. Simple, clean, comfortable and cheap, the accommodation itself is absolutely adequate for your daily needs. More importantly, the air here tingles with excitement – this is simply a hostel that exudes backpacking attitude. Stay here and you'll be guaranteed to meet likeminded travelers.
Litton Lane Hostel. This rocker-cool backpacker cauldron, located a short walk from Dublin's famous Temple Bar area, is a great place to stay if you're looking to hang out with some dudes. The fellows who run Litton Lane are good guys through and through – you're stay here will be defined as much by their easy charm and banter as by the impressively comfortable and accommodating surroundings of the hostel itself.
The Shining Hostel. The Shining Hostel may not quite have the facilities or the décor of other hostels in Dublin, but what it lacks in looks it makes up for in atmosphere. To say this is party-central is to understate things; there's always something going on at The Shining, and if you are in town looking for a good knees-up, few places will serve your needs better.
Camden Place Hostel. A new-comer to the scene, Camden Place Hostel does what all good hostels in Dublin (and worldwide, for that matter) should do: it offers clean, comfortable accommodation, with a fun twist thrown in. Facilities here include a TV room, free breakfast, free wi-fi, single sex dorms, and a reception staff that's as helpful as it is friendly. The hostel also features wonderful wall frescos, which pay testament to its fun-spirited attitude.
