By learning how to increase productivity, you can both get more done and save hours at the same time. Here is a list of things you can do to immediately increase your productivity:
Plan your day the night before.
Plan your day in advance so that you know exactly what you have ahead of you when you wake up in the morning. You don’t have to waste time on coming up with ideas how to get closer to your goals or planing what to do, because that is already done. A good way to plan your day is to write a to-do-list.
Do the most important thing first.
By completing the thing you dread most first, you gain both strength and confidence that will last for the rest of the day. Also, when you complete your hardest task first, all the others tasks seems easy.
Find out which time of the day you are most productive.
Some people are most productive in the morning while others are most productive during the evening. The advantage of getting up early is that your house is quiet and normal distractions like phone calls doesn’t exist, this can of course be true if you are up late at night.
Cut out distractions.
Turn off your phone (or at least put it on airplane-mode) and if you work with your computer, shut down your email and log out from Facebook. Distractions will only cause you to loose focus. If you have a family, Tell them that you have an important task to complete and you don’t want to be disturbed.
Do one thing at a time.
Multitasking doesn’t work, and just like distractions it will cause you to loose focus. By focusing all of your time and energy on one thing at a time, you will complete your task much faster.
Do two thing at once.
Like all good rules, there are always exception. Some times multitasking can actually be a good thing and save you time. When you commute or are out running you can listen to an inspirational and motivational audio-book like Think and Grow Rich or learn a new language. By doing two things at once you can save a lot of time and waste less than if would to these things one at a time.
Take a short break.
For every hour work, take a 10 minute break. During these 10 minutes, you can drink some water, get some fresh air or walk around the block. Even if taking a break seems like the most unproductive thing to do, it can actually help your to get more productive, focused and concentrated.
Focus on your health.
Your health effects your thinking, concentration, focus and therefore also your productivity. What you put in your body has a direct impact on your energy level, mood and how well you are being able to concentrate. Eat better, work out more and get a good night sleep.
