How-To Move Lost Windows Back to Your Desktop

Every once in a while I run into the problem where random windows on my Windows XP desktop seem to find their way off the screen.  This prevents me from being able to grab them by the tool bar and move them back into a viewable space.  This can cause all sorts of problems and limit you from being able to work.

I personally get this problem a lot because I have a dual monitor setup, and every once in a while I will detach my laptop and bring it with me.  When I hook it back up again, the computer gets confused and windows wind up being placed half off the top of the screen.

To get these windows back into a viewable space is actually extremely easy!

All you have to do to fix this is:

  •  Right click on the task bar (beside the start menu), and then click ‘cascade windows’.

All your windows will pop back into view in a cascaded fashion; you can now grab any of these windows by the toolbar and drag them around to your hearts content.
